Filmmaker Fred Kudjo Kuwornu brings his documentary We Were Here: The Untold History of Black Africans in Renaissance Europe to UC Santa Barbara’s MultiCultural Center as part of the Cup of Culture series. The film challenges dominant narratives by uncovering the overlooked presence of Black Africans in 15th- and 16th-century Europe, exploring their lives in cities like Venice, Florence, Lisbon and Paris.
