The Downtown Littleton Merchants Association will be hosting Wine Walks throughout the summer. Photo by Lillian Fuglei While shopping sprees can be a fun way to pass the time, wandering through local shops and picking up a new book or spice to try out, the Downtown Littleton Merchants Association is taking the fun to the next level this summer, with monthly Wine Walks. Downtown Littleton Wine Walks, hosted by the merchants association, will take place on the last Friday of each month, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with tickets on sale now online. Tickets are $30 in advance, or $35 day of. The event highlights nearly 20 local businesses, as participants will walk from shop to shop to get a pour. Each participant gets a bracelet, a glass and a map to help them navigate the walk. They can visit shops to get a sample pour in their glass, and check out what the store has to offer before making their way to the next shop. “It just brings people down and walking around and going into the stores,” said organizer Jen Black, who owns Black+Haus Tavern. “It initiates a reason to come down here and go inside the stores you normally wouldn’t go to. It’s a nice way for the merchants to showcase their stuff while having fun and bringing people down to, you know, see that Littleton’s not a sleepy little town anymore.”Each participant’s bracelet will have ten tabs, one of which will be pulled off each time they receive a one-ounce pour, adding up to about 2 full glasses total. All drinks must be consumed within the shops, and can’t be taken out onto the streets. In order to get the special permit for the event, the participating businesses are all non-liquor licensed businesses — meaning they are primarily retail shops. However, the event will still highlight local drinks, such as Honnibrook Meadery and Carboy Winery in their pours. Black also believes that once people come to Downtown Littleton for the Wine Walk, they’ll want to stay and hang out to get a bite to eat or another drink.#placement_976476_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid976476 = window.pid976476 || rnd;var plc976476 = window.plc976476 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || ”;var absrc = ‘https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=976476;type=js;sw=’+screen.width+’;sh=’+screen.height+’;spr=’+window.devicePixelRatio+’;kw=’+abkw+’;pid=’+pid976476+’;place=’+(plc976476++)+’;rnd=’+rnd+’;click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER’;var _absrc = absrc.split(“type=js”); absrc = _absrc[0] + ‘type=js;referrer=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write(‘ ‘);“People are gonna want to eat and drink more afterwards,” Black said. “They’ll want that next glass of wine or to fill up on something before they start heading out.”For Black, the walks are a way to highlight all of what Downtown Littleton has to offer, which they may miss out on when they stop downtown for just one business. “If you’re not stopping and walking around and checking out the stores, if you only go to one specific store, you miss so much more,” Black said. “There’s all these little stores down here that are all independently owned.”There will be five Wine Walks this summer, and Black and fellow organizer Amber Hamman — who runs Kate’s Wine Bar — are looking forward to giving people the flexibility to come when they can, or even attend more than one Wine Walk throughout the summer. Hamman is also looking forward to highlighting businesses that are off Main Street, which may not get as much attention.“We’ll give people an excuse to walk around a little bit more and explore, because we have quite a few businesses participating off Main Street,” Hamman said. “That’ll really get people out and about a little bit more, there’ll be a lot of, ‘Oh yeah, I never knew this existed over here.’”Read More
