Louise Thompson has apologised after she and Ryan Libbey received backlash over their comments on potty training. Speaking on their podcast, He Said, She Said, the former Made In Chelsea stars cited a report in The Guardian about a survey of teachers that found approximately one in four children who started reception in 2025 were not toilet-trained. The report also said that the survey found 28 per cent of children couldn’t eat and drink independently. “Isn’t that quite full on?” Thompson asked her fiancé. Libbey later added, “You’ve got a large number of kids in reception who’ve got nappies on, and they can’t feed or drink themselves,” to which Thompson laughed. Viewers called the conversation “shocking” and “disappointing” and pointed out that children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, may still wear nappies at that age. Thompson has since apologised, clarifying that the statistics were not referring to Send children or those with a disability. ”What this has taught us is that we should have considered those other groups of children and this is an area that is so under-discovered,” she added.Read More
