India will account for 92% of the total demand for 2,705 new airplanes that will be coming from South Asia by 2042 as carriers eye growth and look to address fleet replacement. Boeing forecasts a demand for 42,595 new airplanes globally over 20 years. The South Asia market is expected to quadruple its fleet over the next two decades, driven by India’s rapidly expanding middle class and strong economic growth. The region will also need 37,000 pilots and 38,000 maintenance technicians over the next 20 years. Indian low-cost carriers hold nearly a 90% share of all domestic seats in the region.
