Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has vowed to back Ukraine in its quest to join the European Union. She was speaking as Denmark officially launched its six-month presidency of the world’s biggest trading bloc. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy flew into the western city of Aarhus on Thursday, where Denmark’s presidency launch was taking place. He was due to hold talks with Fredericksen and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, both staunch backers of Ukraine. Zelenskyy’s trip comes after the Trump administration decided to halt some arms shipments promised to help Ukraine fight off Russia’s invasion.
