BLACKBURG, Va. – The No. 25 Clemson Tigers earned their 19th victory of the season on Friday afternoon after they secured a 4-0 sweep over the Virginia Tech Hokies (9-13, 1-10) in Blacksburg. The Tigers improve to 19-5 on the season and 7-4 in conference play.The Tigers started off strong in doubles as the No. 85 ranked duo of Max Damm and Romain Gales secured the first victory over the day as they defeated Scott Sculley and Ilyas Fahim 6-3 on court two. Clinching the point for Clemson was the pairing of Matt Pitts and Viktor Markov as they earned the 7(8)-6(6) tiebreak win on court three.Clemson continued to dominate in singles as Gales was the first to secure a singles victory as he took down Sculley in three sets on court three. Following Gales was senior Max Smith as he defeated Virginia Tech’s Eyal Shumilov 7(9)-6(7), 6-2 to earn the second win of the day and his 15th singles victory of the spring season.Clinching the match for the Tigers was freshman Edoardo Cherie Ligniere as he recorded a 7-5, 7-5 win over Matt Harper on court six.Up next, the Tigers will take on No. 6 Virginia for their final road match of the regular season on Sunday, April 6 at 12 p.m. ET.
