Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday (Apr 14) talked to his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and stressed the “the importance of avoiding escalation.” The top Indian diplomat also held discussions regarding the situation involving 17 Indian nationals aboard a ship seized off the coast of the UAE.
The container ship, MSC Aries, was seized near the Strait of Hormuz by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Saturday (Apr 13). This has raised concerns about the safety of the Indian crew aboard the vessel.
